Importance of Omega-3 for joint health

Plenty of claims have been made about the effects of omega-3 and improving heart disease, but current studies have shown that it may play a helpful role in improving symptoms of BONE AND JOINT diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis and osteoporosis. OMEGA-3 delays the degradation of articular cartilage and can modulate inflammatory reactions in joints to alleviate symptoms in joint disease.

There are two main classifications of essential fatty acids, omega 3 fatty acids and omega 6 fatty acids. Without getting too biochemically technical the best word to think about with regard to the proper relationship between omega 6 and omega 3 fatty acids is BALANCE. Literally, the ratio of omega 6 to omega 3 fatty acids in both your diet and your body should be 1:1. TOO MUCH OMEGA-6 (toxicity) or TOO LITTLE OMEGA-3 (deficiency) leads to IMPROPER CELL FUNCTION.
